Local Priorities - Road Safety Issues Op Burnout

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Road Safety Issues, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

Nottinghamshire Police have set up a new policing operation called Op Burnout to address car meets and street racing across the Broxtowe borough.

Police continue to patrol and monitor the following hot spot locations :

• A52 between Bardills Island and Bramcote Island
• Chilwell Retail Park
• A610 between Giltbrook retail park and B&Q Island
• Giltbrook Retail Park

We are also working with partner agencies to tackle this issue but at present we are only receiving a relatively low number of calls from the public which does not accurately reflect the scale of the problem, with some callers reporting large numbers of vehicles racing on the roads causing danger to other road users and congregating antisocially.

We therefore encourage you report any incidents to us on either 101 or 999 as required.

If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.nottinghamshire.police.uk, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101.

Alternatively, you can stay 100 per cent anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
